IT Technician

Department: Information Systems
Location: Millersville, MD

This is a hybrid teleworking position, with the expectation that you will be working at our office location in Millersville, MD a few days during the work week.

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field or have an applicable security/technology certification.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience, including any internships, in the information technology field, with at least one of those years involving customer service.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills required and proficiency with other Microsoft applications.
  • Intermediate knowledge and practical application of technical system architecture, software development, and SQL structures.
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts, and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical team members.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to resolve problems in a professional manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work independently or collaborate in a team environment as needed.

What You Will Do

This position is the face of Information Systems (IS) Division as it is often the first-person that coworkers, vendors and partners will encounter when they have a technology issue. Therefore, it is essential that this individual has strong customer service and communication skills.

The IT Technician provides assistance to the internal Information Systems Department and works closely with the organization’s managed service provider to provide support in a timely and efficient manner. This position is responsible for overseeing, monitoring and reporting of the hardware assets for all coworkers. This position will work closely with Business Analyst to learn and serve as a back-up for the care management information system (CMIS).

As the IT Technician you will:

  • Manage all technology equipment (laptops, cell phones, copiers/printers, etc.) by tracking all active and loaner statuses and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot issues with HIPAA compliant virtual platforms (Teams and Zoom).
  • Oversee technology business accounts including Uber, JotForm, Zoom, and Teams.
  • Be the first point of contact for The Center’s managed service provider (MSP) as it relates to help desk tickets.
  • Review tickets in the MSP’s database on a regular basis to identify trends and collaborate with the IS team to improve as necessary.
  • Manage the policy database and contract database to include any reporting.
  • Provide technology support for virtual or in-person meetings.
  • Serve as the backup to troubleshoot issues with the care management information system (CMIS).
  • Deliver IS orientation to new coworkers during general orientation.
  • Serve as a member of the Command Response Team and the Technology Committee.
  • Assume project management responsibilities on assigned projects that require research, data collection, critical thinking, and technical expertise.
